The Redevelopment Authority has worked cooperatively with Brownsville Borough to implement the Brownsville Borough Targeted Revitalization Initiative, aimed at aggressively addressing the blight in the Borough's downtown area. To support this Initiative, in 2008 the Redevelopment Authority and the Fayette County Commissioners approved the Brownsville Redevelopment Proposal. This Proposal involves the acquisition of several properties and the implementation of additional enhancements in order to help alleviate some of the severe blight in the Borough. The Authority obtained $2.0 million grant for the project through the Pennsylvania Main Street Growing Greener II program.
