Pennsylvania Department of Health Lead Hazard Control Program
The funding for this program originates with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is passed through the Pennsylvania Department of Health to the Redevelopment Authority. The funding is used to conduct lead hazard control activities in the homes of families with young children. These activities will help to prevent childhood lead poisoning or prevent further poisoning in children with elevated blood lead levels. The Redevelopment Authority hires certified lead inspectors / risk assessors and contractors to undertake the lead hazard control work and also typically provides families participating in this program with additional assistance through the Authority's Homeowner Rehabilitation Program.
