Markleysburg Waterline Extension Project

Fayette County was awarded Competitive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to extend public water service to Mudd Pike Road, Friendsville Road, and Spear Lane in Markleysburg Borough. This project involves the extension of approximately 3,120 LF of waterline and will service approximately 22 homes. The existing water supply in these areas is limited and of very poor quality. Most residents rely on faulty wells, often with multiple households sharing a single well. The water from these wells is cloudy, smells and tastes bad, and has a high concentration of iron. Wells have been known to run dry, leaving residents entirely without water. Extension of the public water system to these areas will eliminate the health hazards and problems caused by the existing water supply and provide a safe and stable water supply for residents of the Borough.
