NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR GRANT MODIFICATIONS – FOR FAYETTE COUNTY, PA OBO GEORGES TOWNSHIP – FY2025 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
Notice is hereby given that a public hearing to obtain the views and comments of citizens on community development needs will be held on January 5, 2026 at 10:00 am at the Fayette County Redevelopment Authority (86 West Main Street, Uniontown, PA 15401). This location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Every effort will be made to provide the needed materials to all residents, including persons with disabilities and LEP persons, upon request. Please call 724-437-1547 ext. 210 at least 72 hours in advance of the hearing to request technical assistance.
The hearing will include discussion of past and future uses of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. CDBG funds are provided to the county and its entitlement townships from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and may be utilized for a variety of community development and housing activities. Seventy percent (70%) of available funds must benefit low- and moderate-income persons.
Specifically, this hearing will address proposed modifications to Georges Townships activities in the County’s FY2025 CDBG Program (C0000TBD4). Proposed modifications will reallocate CDBG funds for cancelled projects as follows: $61,782 from Continental II Area Road Reconstruction and $31,000 from Oven Road Area Road Reconstruction to Housing Rehabilitation.
The proposed activities plan for no displacement of any persons or affordable housing units. It is the stated policy of the County and its Entitlement Townships to avoid activities which result in displacement. In the unlikely event any activity funded by the CDBG program results in displacement, it is the responsibility of the Township to provide relocation assistance.
All interested agencies, groups and persons wishing to comment on the proposed modifications or any of the County’s community development needs and use of CDBG funds may submit written remarks to the attention of Andrew French, Executive Director at the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Fayette, PA (86 West Main Street, Uniontown PA 15401) by the end of day, January 5, 2026. The Township will consider approval of the proposed modifications at their next regular Meeting on January 13, 2026 at 3:30pm in the Georges Township Municipal Building (1151 Township Drive, Uniontown, PA 15401). The County Commissioners will consider approval of the modifications on January 15, 2026 at 10:00am in the Conference Room at 2 W Main Street – Uniontown, PA.
